This year has been a challenging one for me on a personal level. 2014 has been pushing my buttons, testing my boundaries, it’s prompted me to claim my position, define my values, and rule out my tolerations. It’s been challenging, painful, eye-opening and exhausting. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s provided me with a powerful source of awareness, clarity and growth. Nothing great ever comes out of my comfort zone anyway.
define success
I had an eye-opening conversation with my life coach this morning (and yes, even coaches have a coach! Just quietly – one of the best things I ever did)
She asked me if I considered myself a successful woman?
I had to pause.
aquatic adventures
As promised in my last post, more on my underwater experience in Indonesia – this is something I will never ever forget . . .
The scene is set on a small island – Nusa Lembongan – off Bali’s south east coast. I am submerged 19 meters under the ocean, in a cove called Crystal Bay. I am in a parallel under-water world, feeling like an amphibian (or more accurately, a mermaid) – under the oceans surface, yet still breathing air.
lessons from the island
I just LOVE travelling. For me, it’s honestly one of my greatest pleasures. And ironically, it feels like home to me.
I just returned from a wonderful trip to Bali, Indonesia. My head is still spinning a little from all the amazing experiences, adventures and conversations I had . . . but I’m going to attempt a little download, Part #1.
beneath the surface
I hit the pool yesterday. After a few laps plodding along in my lane, my breath started to even out, my body relaxed, the thoughts quietened, and the feeling of freedom I get from being in water started to wash over me.
Swimming along, I was taken by the feeling of being on the brink of two worlds – one above the water and one below.
you are ready
So today I did something that really stretched me.
Pushed me out of my comfy cocoon. Made my palms a little sweatier and my heart beat A LOT faster.
I was asked to present a segment at the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week Industry Event. Our GM of Merchandise at lululemon was part of a panel of speakers for the event and he wanted to bring an element of our culture into play – people, leadership and personal development. This called for one thing and one thing only – Vision & Goals – and it just so happens to be my bag baby!
living a life, not a lifestyle
Having a fulfilling life, not just an impressive lifestyle has been cropping up a lot lately. The whole notion of living on purpose. Being conscious about the choices we make, the way we lead our life and the type of lifestyle we get to create.
Do you know that YOU get to create your life?
fresh starts
For the first time in 30 years I am moving into my very own apartment!
After reviewing my tolerations last month, I set my goal for August: ‘To sign a lease and create a home for myself, by August 20th’. Even though it wasn’t my original one year goal of buying my own property, it will still be my home none the less.

toleration free
A big part of being human is being told we should tolerate lots of things we don’t like, you know the story – “Don’t complain…” “Life is difficult…” “Don’t rock the boat…” etc. It’s all good advice, but sometimes our tolerations compromise our lives.
Sacrifices drain you. They also get to be a great excuse for not making things happen.
